      Choosing Your Ceiling Rose / Medallion

Ceiling medallions, centrepieces and ceiling roses are plaster ornamentations used to decorate the ceiling area where the light fitting meets the ceiling. 

These words are used interchangeably on this site as they all mean the same thing.  

Many people choose a plaster ceiling medallion for a focal point in their ceiling. There are hundreds of designs, shapes and sizes to choose from. When choosing a medallion it is important to consider the height of the ceiling and the size and use of the room. Large medallions with a great deal of ornamentation would over power a room with a low ceiling.

Our assistance is available if you need help in your choice. Here we illustrate the difference between a painted and an unpainted medallion. As you can see, colour truly brings it to life:

Our Ceiling Roses / Medallions Are Painted Fine Detail

Each centrepiece is meticulously hand-painted with minute attention to fine detail. Any shade of paint can be matched to provide continuity with existing decor and to blend well with other furnishings in the room. Usually four or five paint colours are ample for a ceiling medallions in an average room. It is very easy to over-do colours in a medallion and end up with a heavy looking medallion which can give an oppressive feel to a room.   We can send you pictures (via email or post) of unpainted medallions so that you can make your choice of design, then we can discuss colours.  If you have paint brochures with specific colours that you require in your medallion, you can post us the brochures and we will match your colours.  Similarly, if you have fabric samples and wallpaper which would assist in colour matching please feel welcome to post these to us.
