Pressed Metal Ceiling With Plaster Cornice
The Lucas Family wanted to retain their old plaster cornice and use
pressed metal on the rest of the ceiling. Pressed metal needs to
be nailed up via the use of 12 mm builders ply as a sub strata.
This presented a problem to the Lucas's because the ply could be
installed well enough but the depth of it would drop down slightly
lower than the depth of the top edge of the cornice. Mr Lucas
solved the problem by using a fancy timber trim between the edge of
the ply/metal and the top edge of the cornice. In effect the
timber moulding appears to become part of the cornice and when painted
no-one can tell where metal, timber and plaster begin or end. |
