 Frequently Asked Questions.

We have tried to make this web site as informative as possible for you.  After all, if you don't have all the information how can you make a decision?

If you have browsed through our web site and you still can't find answers to your questions then take a look at this page. If the answer isn't here then we encourage you to contact us.  Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.

We never consider any question dumb or silly.

The questions we get asked the most are:

Where can I find the prices for your pressed metal panels?

They can be located by clicking Pressed Metal  Prices.

Do you send your panels overseas?

Yes, we air freight our panelling all over the world.

Isn't air freight rather expensive?

No. Fortunately we receive good discounts from the air freight companies which we are able to pass on to our customers

Can I order a small number of panels, say for a back splash?

Within Australia you can order a minimum of three.  Overseas customers need to order a minimum of five panels. However sending just a few panels can work out quite expensive, from a freight point of view, on a "per panel" basis.  We get better shipping rates on larger amounts of paneling sufficient for a ceiling.

How long does overseas air freight take?

Usually less than a week.  It is particularly fast to the USA - four or five days usually.

How big are your metal panels?

They are various sizes but most are either 1800 mm x 600 mm (6' x 2') or 1800 mm x 900 mm (6' x 3')

What are the panels made from?

They are made from a special aluminium alloy which is approximately half a millimetre thick.  When the aluminium is pressed into the various patterns its strength is actually increased.  It is an exciting product, better than normal tin ceilings because it is lightweight and it doesn't rust.

Where do all the beautiful designs come from?

They are authentically copied from the old patterns that were available in Australia up to a hundred years ago

How do I work out how many metal panels to order?

We are here to help you work out exactly what you need.  Just ask for help.

What sort of finish coating is on the metal?

The finish coating is dependent on which manufacturer we source the product from. In general, the panels with a (D) after their names are coated in etch primer and the ones with a (P) do not have primer on them.  They all need to be coated in paint or some other finish.  Shiny raw aluminium goes greyish and mottled if left unfinished.

Roughly how much does it cost to ship a tin ceiling overseas?

Please contact us to give us approximate quantities or room measurements and we will roughly estimate the freight costs.  Our estimate will be all inclusive (i.e. packing, airfreight, insurance and Australian customs charges) but does not include any costs that customs may charge you in your country.

Won't the plaster medallions get broken in transit?

We prefer to sell our plaster creations for our local market so they can be hand delivered.  We have sent them overseas but they have to be packed properly  in expanding foam which protects them very well.  They are packed by a professional packing company so this means the cost is much higher if we use this service.

Are your prices in Australian dollars or US dollars?

Our prices are in Australian dollars. Please contact us for current exchange rates for all countries. We will work out the cost for you in your currency.
